Established
twenty years ago by a group of Vietnam Veterans, VVAF is an international
organization dedicated to addressing the causes, conduct and consequences
of war.
VVAF's
mission has been the rehabilitation of the war wounded and the elimination
of indiscriminate weapons that target innocent civilians. Since
l99l, VVAF has been the driving force behind an intensive public
effort to encourage the international community and the United States
to ban the use, stockpile, production and transfer of antipersonnel
land-mines. VVAF co-founded and coordinated the organization that
received the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its global efforts to eradicate
antipersonnel landmines.

Founded
in 1971, Pact is an independent, international, non-profit corporation
whose mission is to help build strong communities that allow people
to earn a dignified living, engage in self-help initiatives and
participate in democratic life.
Over
the years, Pact has earned a strong reputation for excellence in
the participatory design of institutional strengthening activities,
delivery of services and measurement of results. Pact's programs
generally tie capacity building to service delivery through a combination
of technical assistance, training and grants-with grant funds giving
organizations the chance to immediately employ newly acquired skills.
Pact's own sector experience and skills base covers several areas
including micro-finance and advocacy/policy dialogue. Pact currently
operates large, complex, multi-year programs in Ethiopia, Kenya,
Madagascar, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and a regional program covering
the 10 countries that comprise the Greater Horn of Africa. In the
past year, Pact successfully concluded long-term programs in Botswana,
Mozambique, Zambia and Angola and still has a presence in the latter
two countries.

Pact
Kenya is a regional non-governmental organization working with Civil
Society Organizations (CSOs) to improve the well being of communities
through transformative capacity building, institutional strengthening
and grant making initiatives.
Pact
Kenya is located in Nairobi where it coordinates its activities
in the eastern Africa. In partnership with Pact, it provides technical
assistance to country programs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi,
Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Rwanda, southern
Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Djibouti.

The Consortium
This site gives a listing of a number of InterAction's Committee
on Migration & Refugee Affairs (CMRA). This committee provides
a forum through which the agencies coordinate their programs and
policies, build consensus on refugee issues, and interface with
the US government, the UNHCR, and other international agencies.

Overseas (HVO)
HVO is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian volunteer organization
headquartered in the United States. HVO is dedicated to improving
the availability and quality of health care in developing countries
through training and education.

Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
The ICRC was founded nearly a century and a half ago. It seeks to
preserve a measure of humanity in the midst of war. Its guiding
principle is that even in war there are limits: limits on how warfare
is conducted and limits on how combatants behave. The set of rules
that were established with this in mind and endorsed by nearly every
nation in the world is known as international humanitarian law,
of which the Geneva Conventions are the bedrock.

The ISPO, is a multi-disciplinary organization comprised of persons
who have a professional interest in the clinical, educational and
research aspects of prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation engineering
and related topics.

Outreach Foundation (POF)
POF is an international humanitarian non-profit organization that
is dedicated to restoring mobility and independence to disadvantaged
amputees worldwide.

Foundation
The Vocational Center is designed to train amputees and widows to
start their own businesses as a means of support for themselves
and their families, and also as a way of raising the economic level
of impoverished villages in rural Cambodia.
